About April
April Nishimura is traditionally adopted into the Gitxsan nation, and is a representative of Wilp Gwininitx of the Lax Gibuu clan located in so-called British Columbia, Canada. April is the Co-Executive Director of Together Rising as an Environmental Movement, where she directs the strategy for Indigenous self-determination and network development. She holds an MBA and MA in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University and has worked in supporting Indigenous people’s rights in the Philippines, Canada, the U.S. and throughout the Pacific. She is a Board Trustee of the UUSC, an international human rights organization, which supports climate induced migration and human rights interventions. April is based in Honolulu, Hawai'i on the island of Oahu.
